Higginsville, Missouri · U-Pick Berry Farm
Fresh blueberries and blackberries, appointment only. Come out on your schedule and fill a gallon with the best berries in Lafayette County.
What We Grow
We keep it simple — blueberries and blackberries, grown on rich Missouri soil with full irrigation. The result is consistently large, flavorful fruit that speaks for itself.
Nearly 400 bushes across multiple varieties for a long season window. Consistently large berries with excellent flavor. Some rows have never needed a spray application since planting.
Prime-Ark variety producing some of the largest blackberries you'll ever pick. Firm, sweet, and palm-filling. Our customers come back every year specifically for these.

Questions
Patty's Patch is not certified organic, and we want to be upfront about why.
Japanese beetle pressure in Missouri makes true organic certification impractical without accepting crop losses that would put us out of business. The honest truth is that effective organic tools for Japanese beetles simply don't exist yet in the Midwest — any farm in our area claiming full organic certification with healthy berry yields is worth questioning.
When we do spray, we use the most targeted chemistry available — products that work by affecting ryanodine receptors, biological mechanisms that insects possess but mammals don't have in the same form. Your body simply cannot respond to these compounds the way an insect does because you don't have the receptor they're designed to target.
We use a one-day pre-harvest interval, meaning fruit is safe to pick the very next day after any application. We never broad spray the entire farm — only specific areas with active pest pressure, only when needed. Many plants never see a spray application in a given season or at all. We don't spray unless the alternative is major crop damage, not to eliminate every minor loss.
Blackberries get consistent attention during beetle season. Blueberries rarely if ever need spraying — some rows have never been treated since planting.
We'll always tell you the current spray status when you book your visit.
When you book, we'll let you know exactly what's ready. We also post updates on our Facebook page throughout the season as varieties come in and out of peak. If you're ever unsure, just message us — we check regularly and respond quickly.
Pricing is $25 per gallon, pro-rated for whatever you pick. Fill half a gallon, pay $12.50. There's no minimum — pick as much or as little as you like. You only pay for what you take home.
Payment is at the farm. Cash or card accepted.
You're welcome to bring your own. We also have containers available at the farm. Pricing is pro-rated by the gallon regardless of what you use to pick into.
Absolutely. Kids tend to love picking berries — and eating them straight off the plant. Just keep an eye on little ones around the irrigation lines and between rows. Let us know when you book if you're bringing a group so we can make sure we have enough space set up.
Light rain usually isn't a problem — picking in drizzle is fine and the berries are just as good. Heavy rain or storms are a different story. If the weather looks bad we'll reach out to reschedule. Just message us if you have any concerns on the day and we'll figure it out together.
We're at 2211 Plum St, Higginsville, MO 64037. Google Maps will get you close, but here are turn-by-turn directions from Highway 13:
From Highway 13, turn east onto 22nd Street at the Red Shanty. Head east until you reach the next road — Plum Street. It's not labeled, so watch for it. Turn south onto Plum Street and follow the gravel drive past the dead end sign. You've arrived.
We have heavy landscape fabric between all rows which keeps mud to a minimum in most conditions. After light to moderate rain the rows stay clean and walkable. After heavy rain there can be soft spots in some rows — it varies depending on where the water settles. We actively manage standing water after significant rain events and will let you know when you book if any rows are still recovering. Comfortable shoes are fine for normal conditions; after heavy rain it's worth asking us first.
Roughly 5–6 lbs depending on berry size and variety. Our blackberries run exceptionally large — customers are always surprised by how quickly a gallon fills up when the berries are the size of small plums.
